    There are varying dates in the several census ratings for August and Frances Walski. Their son John in the 1900 census is assumed in this family tree to be the same person as John Edward Jackoniski, who emigrated at the same time in 1888 as August and Frances and who signed August’s death certificate in 1940.

    Frances was about 8–10 years older than August and it was possible she was married earlier to someone named Jackoniski. The 1930 census lists both August and Frances’ ages as 76 (though August was closer to 66 years old). He puts his age at first marriage as 24, which would be circa 1888, which is in line with the approximate marriage date of 1887 given in the 1910 census. Frances lists her first marriage age at 20, which would put it around 1874. So it is possible she was married earlier and that she married August in the mid-late 1880s when she already had two living children John and Mary.

    It’s also possible that their son John was not the same person as John E. Jackoniski and perhaps died sometime after 1900. The 1900 census (under the name Kawalski) lists 5 children, 4 living (John, Anna, Paul, and Frank), and the 1910 census lists 5 children, 3 living (listing only Paul and Frank). Paul and Frank are the only children listed in the 1905 state census. We are assuming that Anna is the child who died between 1900 and 1905, although it’s also possible she married and was with her husband. We can find no record of her.
