    • Louise was married for the first time, 12/20/1883, to Charles Lods at St. Joseph's Church. Charles was the son of Louis George Lods of Valence, France and Zulme Bonchemin. Zulme died in childbirth at the age of 19. Louis remarried, Phileman Richards and had several more children. Louise and Charles had 4 children, Charles, Raymond, Louise and Zulme. Zulme died shortly after Charles death.
      After Charles' death, to support herself and her children, Louise went to work in a hat shop. She met Alexander Smith when he visited New Orleans. He fell in love, even though she was older, and was persistant 'till she married him. They lived in Grand Coteau for a few years but returned to New Orleans for the rest of their lives.
