  [S1251] Find A Grave, VITTER, EDITH P. VARNADO. A resident of Ponchatoula, she died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at Live Oak Village, Hammond. She was 86 and a native of Brookhaven, Miss. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. Visitation at first Baptist Church of Ponchatoula from 10 a.m. until religious service at 2 p.m. Friday. Interment in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Survived by a daughter, Margaret Sue Varnado Bailey, Ponchatoula; a step-daughter, Shirley Ann Vitter Darouse, Albany; a stepson, R.W. "Bobby" Vitter Jr., Ponchatoula; a brother, Jay C. Potter, Brookhaven; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Carl and Arie Hutson Potter; first husband, Carl O. Varnado; second husband, R.W. Vitter Sr.; a sister, Irma Potter Goodman; a brother, Carl Douglas Potter; and a grandson, Paul Bryant Potter. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Ponchatoula. She taught first grade in Ponchatoula for 25 years. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Kappa Kappa Iota, Delta Kappa Gamma, Gardenettes and Strawberry Patch Quilters.
