    6. [S1251] Find A Grave, David Lloyd Storm.
David L. Storm of Ash Grove rents his farm and retires - David L. Storm has moved to Mattoon. He has lived there near 58 years. He was born Apr. 6, 1844, in section 22 in Ash Grove township, Shelby county, IL. We went to school with him at the old school house up the creek and sat on the split log benches. When about twelve years old his father built in section 21, not over one hundred and fifty yards from the old house. He moved with his parents and four brothers, of whom he is the only one left. His mother died in about 1858. His father married Louisa Kemp, to whom was born one son, Isaac S. of Shelbyville. Dave lived there till 1865. He married Margaret Ramsey and moved back in section 22, not over 150 yards from the old house. He lived there till three years after his father died, he moved in his father's house, where his wife died, leaving three sons, Morgan, Delbert and Frederick. In 1865 he married Ida Dora Price, to whom was born one daughter and one son. In 1889 his wife died and he married Malissa Wisley, they have lived at the old home since. While we think it best for him to retire from the farm, we hate to give him up as he was one of the best of neighbors; but that quality belongs to the Storm name as far back as we know. He has always been a democrat though not noisy, but always voting it. He never had any trouble with his neighbors. He says it is easier to keep down trouble than it is to settle it. He never has been off the place over two weeks in his life. C. C. Clark is coming on the place, so we are not losing a neighbor, for they are good people and we welcome them. When it came about time for Dave to move, neighbors wanted to do something for them. They decided to make them a surprise supper. Tuesday evening, Feb. 18, over sixty came in with their baskets filled but they didn't take them away that way, for there were present several pretty good eaters, among them being Charley Clark, Bludget Storm and Emmet Blackburn. Dave and his good wife enjoyed the meeting hugely. In fixing for his sale he found his father's old christian hymn book, so after the friends sang a few old fashion songs, they departed for their home wishing Dave and his good wife a happy home in Mattoon.
