    1. [S1251] Find A Grave, Hiram J. Storm.
Windsor Gazette - Apr 1912 - Hiram J. Storm died at his home in Strasburg, Thursday evening after a long illness following a gradual decline in his physical powers. He was in his 80th year. Rev. John M. Tull of Chambersburg conducted services at the Ash Grove Church Sunday afternoon, the services being largely attended. Six grandsons acted as pallbearers from the house to the Church. Burial was in Ash Grove cemetery under the auspices of Windsor Lodge #322, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of which Mr. Storm had long been a member. At the church services, Rev. Tull read the following obituary: Hiram J. Storm was born in Shelby Co., IL, Jan. 1, 1833 [believe 1834]; died at his home in Strasburg, IL, Apr. 11, 1912, at 7:45 p.m. He first married to Harriet Rankin on Dec. 11, 1851, who died Jun 24, 1866. To this union were born seven children, three of whom are deceased. In order of their ages: Elizabeth Storm, died at the age of 10; Alvin Storm; Jane Hiatt, who died Feb. 25, 1906; John Newton Storm, who departed this life Nov. 5, 1910; Mrs. Caly [A. W.] Young; Willis Storm; Lee Storm. Mr. Storm's second marriage was to Jane Curry, Feb. 13, 1867 and to this union also were born 7 children, one of whom died in infancy. The living children in order of their ages are: Otto Storm, Bay, Belden, Mrs. Hattie [Walter] Grandstaff, Edward Storm, Mrs. Bertha [Parke] Ferguson. Uncle Hi, as he was familiarly known among his neighbors and friends of whom he had a host, spent nearly all his life in his native state. He was a good citizen, a kind neighbor, an affectionate husband and companion, a gentle and loving father, and a true and loyal friend. He was good to the poor and ever inclined to see the best and brightest side of life and therefore sought to bring all the sunshine possible into the world. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity for some 50 years. Many years ago he was baptized and joined the Christian church. Mr. Storm may have made mistakes in life, but indeed, who has not? His judgment was always tempered by mercy, and in his house he was a prince among men. He leaves a widow, 10 children and a host of friends to mourn his loss.

    2. [S1251] Find A Grave, Sarah Morgan Goode.
Sarah Goode died at her home in Ash Grove township last Thursday, Jul. 16, 1891. Grandma Goode, as she was known, was 83 years old, and was one of the first settlers in Shelby county, having come here about 1831. She was one of the charter members of the Ash Grove Christian Church, and has lived a consistent Christian life for over sixty years. Her orderly walk and God-like conversation were worthy of her profession. The funeral services were held at the Ash Grove church, Elder P. P. Warren conducting the services in presence of a great host of friends and relatives who had assembled to pay their last respects to the departed mother in Israel. Immediately after the services the interment took place in the Grove cemetery. The church has lost a good and faithful member, the family a devoted mother and friend, and the community a neighbor whom all loved and honored. Peace to her memory. - Windsor Gazette - 23 Jul 1891
