- Obituary: Jack L. Morgan; (John) Jack L. Morgan 77, lifelong are resident, died Saturday, July 8, 2006, at his home. He was born Feb. 10, 1929, on the family farm in rural Miami County. His parents were Leary and Julia Fishcell Morgan. He attended rural grade school and graduaated in 1947 from Paola High School. He and Joan Cox were married June 25, 1948, in Paola. After their marriage they made their home on the family farm 12 miles north of Paola. They became the parents of four children. Mr. Morgan farmed his entire llife until retiring and moving to Paola. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Paola and served as a church usher and deacon. He was an avid woodworker and made much of the cabinetry at the church. He also enjoyed antiquing and spending time with his family and friends. A sister, Eleanor Vohs, was among those preceding him in death. Surviving are his wife, Joan Morgan, of the home and his children, Jackie Ruiz of Overland Park, Kenny Morgan of Austin, Texas, Richard Morgan of Lawrence and Bruce Morgan of Paola; three sisters, Josephine Matthews of West Line, Mo., Dorothy Nolan of Topeka and Virginia Eddy of Baldwin City; a braothere, James Morgan of Omaha, Neb.; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Services were were Tuesday in the church and burial was in Wellsville Cemetery.
