      MRS MILLIKIN SUCCUMBED TO LONG ILLNESS. ONE OF THE BEST BELOVED WOMEN OF BOWLING GREEN DIED EARLY FRIDAY MORNING: THE END OF YEARS OF SUFFERING AND INVALIDISM THE CAUSE OF WHICH WAS NEVER CLEARLY DIAGNOSED BY THE BEST MEDICAL TALENT IN THE COUNTRY CAME FRIDAY MORNING AT A LITTLE AFTER ONE O'CLOCK WHEN MRS WILLIAM H. MILLIKIN EXPIRED. DEATH CAME AT THE FAMILY RESIDENCE ON W. WOOSTER ST. WITH HUSBAND, CHILDREN, MOTHER, BROTHER AND SISTER PRESENT. SHE HAD STEADILY DECLINED IN HEALTH FOR SOME WEEKS AND THE FAMILY HAD BEEN SPENDING THE GREATER PORTION OF THE INTERVENING TIME AT HER BEDSIDE. FUNERAL SERVICES ARE T BE HELD ON SUNDAY MORNING AT TEN O'CLOCK AT HER LATE HOME ON W. WOOSTER ST. AND THE REV. HOFFMAN OF THE FIRST METHODIST CHURCH WILL CONDUCT THEM. INTERMENT WILL BE HAD IN THE MAUSOLEUM. MRS MILLIKIN WAS BORN ALICE DELPHINE DAVIE AT BOLIVAR, NY ON MAY 16 1857. SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF CHARLES BENSON AND CLARISSA AMELIA DAVIE. THE MOTHER SURVIVES HER AND IS PRESENT IN BOWLING GREEN AT THE ADVANCED AGE OF SEVENTY-FIVE YEARS. MRS MILLIKIN GREW UP IN BOLIVAR AND IT WAS THERE THAT SHE MET MR MILLIKIN. THEIR MARRIAGE WAS SOLEMNIZED AT THE DAVIE HOMESTEAD IN THE YEAR 1885. TWO YEARS LATER HER HUSBANDS INTEREST IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE OIL INDUSTRY OF THE COUNTRY BROUGHT THEM TO BOWLING GREEN WHICH HAS SINCE BEEN THE HOME OF THE FAMILY. FOUR CHILDREN, ALL LIVING WERE BORN. MRS WILLIAM WILKIE, MRS GRACE AND CHARLES OF THIS CITY AND MRS ROSS PARKER OF PARKESS ISLAND. TWO BROTHRS AND A SISTER ALSO SURVIVE. MRS MINNIE OSBORNE, CHARLES DAVIE AND FRANK DAVIE OF BOLIVAR, NY. MRS MILLIKIN JOINED THE METHODIST CHURCH EARLY IN LIFE AND WAS AN ACTIVE WORKER AND COMMUNICANT ALWAYS THEREAFTER. STRICKEN WITH INVALIDISM SOMETHING MORE THAN A DECADE AGO, HER INTEREST IN CHURCH WORK NEVER FLAGGED AND TO THE DAY OF HER LAST ILLNESS SHE WAS AMONG THE MOST VALUED MEMER OF THE CHURCH IN BOWLING GREEN. SHE COMBINED TO AN UNUSUAL DEGREE WITH THIS RELIGIOUS INTEREST THOSE GRACES OF CHARACTER WHICH GAVEHER THE WARMEST LOVE FOR THE CHILDREN, THE FRIENDLY AFFECTION OF HER NEIGHBORS AND NAMELESS ACQUAINTANCES WHICH SHE HAD MADE DURING HER LONG RESIDENCY IN THIS CITY.

      W.H. MILLIKIN WAS PIONEER IN OIL PRODUCTION. WM. HENRY MILLIKIN , 77, PASSED AWAY WEDNESDAY EVENING AT 7:30 PM IN HIS APARTMENT IN HOTEL MILLIKIN. HIS DEATH WAS DUE TO A GENERAL BREAKING DOWN AND HASTENED BY A FALL A YEAR AGO. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT 2:30PM AT THE HOME OF HIS DAUGHTER MRS FRED UHLMAN ON W. WOOSTER ST. BURIAL WILL BE HERE. THE REV S.M INGMIRE WILL OFFICIATE. MR MILLIKIN WAS BORN APRIL 3 1853 IN VANANGO COUNTY PA. AFTER ATTENDING THE COMMON SCHOOLS HE BECAME A STUDENT AT THE STATE NORMAL SCHOOL AT EDINBURG, PA. FOR MORE THAT HALF A CENTURY HE HAD BEEN AN OIL OPERATOR. HE BECAME INTERESTED IN THE EARLY SEVENTIES IN THE OIL FIELDS OF PENNYSLVANIA AND NY AND WAS A SUCESSFUL OPERATORFROM THE BEGINNING. WHEN OIL WAS DISCOVERED IN OHIO IN THE EIGHTIES HE MOVED TO THIS STATE AND BECAME A RESIDENT OF LIMA. A LITTLE LATER HE MOVED TO BOWLING GREEN AND FOR A DECADE WAS A VERY ACTIVE OPERATOR IN WOOD COUNTY. FORTUNE SMILED ON HIM AND HIS ENTERPRISE AND BUSINESS ABILITY MADE HIM ONE OF THE MOST OUTSTANDING INDEPENDENT OPERATORS IN THE US. WHEN THE WOOD COUNTY FIELD BEGAN TO WANE HE WENT INTO THE FIELD AT ROBINSON , ILL. THEN HIS SAGACITY DREW HIM TO THE KANSAS, OKLAHOMA AND TEXAS FIELDS. TURNING HIS INTERESTS TO THE SOUTHWEST HE WENT FARTHER SOUTH CROSSING THE BOUNDRY LINE INTO OLD MEXICO. IN THE TAMPIC9 FIELDS HE AGAIN STRUCK RICH WELLS AND HE BUILT EXTENSIVELY IN TAMPICO, A HANDSOME THEATRE AND MANY PRIVATE RESIDENCES WERE ERECTED THERE BY HIM. THE MEXICAN REVOLUTION OF 1911 AND THE DEPRECIATIONS OF BANDIT PANCHO VILL AND OF GEN HUERTA WHO SEIZED THE PRESIDENCY FROM PRESIDENT MADERO CAUSED HIM HEAVY LOSSES IN THAT FIELD. BILL MILLIKIN WAS A VERY FORCEFULL BUT FRIENDLY MAN AND HE TOOK A VERY ACTIVE PART IN THE AFFAIRS OF HIS COMMUNITY. HE CHOSE JUL 4 1895 TO BREAK GROUND FOR THE SPLENDID BLOCK WHICH BEARS HIS NAME AND ESTABLISHED THE FINE MILLIKIN HOTEL. HE BOUGHT A BEAUTIFUL HOME AND REAREED HIS FAMILY HERE. HE INVESTED IN OTHER PROPERTY IN OUR CITY. HE LONG CONDUCTED A FINE 300 ACRE FARM IN TTHE WONDERFUL ONION SECTION OF HARDIN COUNTY. HE SERVED AS A DIRECTOR OF THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK HERE. TWICE HE WAS ELECTED AS COUNCILMAN OF BOWLING GREEN AND GAVE THE GROWING TOWN THE BENEFIT OF HIS RIPE JUDGEMENT. HE CNTRIBUTED FREELY TO CHURCH FINANCES WAS A STRONG ADVOCATE OF TEMPERANCE BACK IN THE DAYS WHEN SALOONS WERE NUMEROUS IN BOWLING GREEN, AND WAS A STAUNCH REPUBLICAN. HE ENJOYED THE RESPECT OF ALL WHO CAME IN CONTACT WITH HIM. HIS SPLENDID PHYSIQUE AND COUTRLY BEARING ATTRIBUTED WHOMEVER HE MET. IN 1884 HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE WITH MISS ALICE DELPHINE DAVIE. SHE PASSED AWAY IN 1910. HE IS SURVIVED BY THEIR FOUR CHILDREN AND TWELVE GRANDCHILDREN. THE CHILDREN ARE; MRS WM.(CARRIE) WILKIE, MRS FRED (GRACE) UHLMAN AND CHARLES W. MILLIKIN OF THIS CITY, AND MRS ROSS (MARY) PARKER OF WATERVILLE.
