With the 45th Infantry Div. in Korea -- PFC Robert O. Weaver, Route 4, Paola, KS., has won the Combat Infantryman Badge, symbol of the front line fighting men, while serving in Korea with the 45 th Infantry Division.
The badge shows a miniature Revolutionary War flintlock rifle mounted against a blue rectangle which is surrounded by a wreath.
The Oklahoma National Guard Division left the U.S. early in 1951 and trained extensively on the Japanese island of Hokkaido before it was committed to Korea last December.
Weaver, a mortarman in Company H of the 279 th Infantry Regiment, entered the Army in October 1950 and joined the 45 th Division in November 1950.
Obituary: Robert Ora Weaver: Robert Ora Weaver, 61, R4 Paola, died unexpectedly of a heart attack, Tuesday, Dec. 19, 1989, while feeding cattle south of Wagstaff. His immediate survivors include his wife, Virginia Weaver of the home; two daughters Kathy Steele of Topeka, and Sharon Vitter of Providence, R.I. and three sons, John Weaver of Phoenix, Ariz., Don Weaver of Bernice, Calif., and Jerry Weaver of Paola. Services are pending at the Wilson and Son Funeral Home in Paola. Memorials may be made in his name to the Elm Grove Baptist church at Chiles.

Virginia Weaver Knop
1932-2016
Virginia Weaver Knop, 83, Louisburg, passed away April 25, 2016, at North Point Nursing Home in Paola.
She was born Virginia Louise Kohlenberg on Nov. 2, 1932, to William “Bill” August and Leta Mae Grimes Kohlenberg of rural Louisburg.
Virginia graduated from Louisburg High School in 1950 and then attended the Kansas City Secretarial School. She worked as a secretary at Equitable Life Insurance and Kansas City Power and Light.
Virginia married Robert Oran Weaver on Nov. 16, 1952, at the First Presbyterian Church in Paola.
They resided in Kansas City, Mo., until they moved to Wagstaff in February, 1954. They moved nearby to the Weaver Family Homestead in 1963.
Robert Oran Weaver preceded her in death on December 19, 1989.
Virginia and Robert had five children: Katherine Ann Weaver Steele (Steven) of Topeka, Sharon Louise Weaver Vitter (Jeffrey) of University, Miss., John Robert Weaver (Roxane Gonser) of Goodyear, Ariz., Donald William Weaver (Louise Schwartz — deceased, Felicia Mickam Jenkins) of Metairie, La., and Jerry Alan Weaver (Stacey Walters) of Paola.
Virginia married Welby Edward Knop on March 16, 1991, at the Elm Grove Baptist Church, Paola. He resides at their home in Louisburg.
Virginia is survived by her husband; five children; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
Her grandchildren are Jessica Weaver Ashby (Ryan), Ian Weaver, Jillian Vitter, J. Scott Vitter Jr., Audrey Vitter, Aaron Weaver (Heather Nava), Nathan Weaver (Maria Martinez), Bryan Weaver, Ross Jenkins, Max Jenkins (Abigail), Regan Jenkins, Kayla Callahan (Tommy), Emily Weaver, Kurt Weaver and Cory Weaver.
Her great grandchildren are Ava Ashby, Harvin Weaver, McKinley Callahan and Kayden Weaver.
Her sisters are Lois Kohlenberg Matney (Orville) and Helen Kohlenberg Slyter (Dean).
