McLEAN, MRS. MONTA VITTER, of Lake Placid, FL, died Tuesday, September 7, 2004 of cancer in Lakeland. She was 78. She was born in Fairview, PA on September 7, 1926. She came to Clermont in 1955 and moved to Lake Placid in 1982. She was a nurse and homemaker and member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Lake Placid, where she worked as a volunteer with Manna Ministries and other mission organizations. Mrs. McLean was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, William Benjamin McLean, Sr. She is survived by her sons, Benny McLean of Clermont, Mark McLean and John McLean of Sebring, Jeff McLean of Merritt Island, Scott McLean of Lake Placid and daughters, Dianne Schuster and Barbara Vitter of Clermont and Mary Hix of Lakeland; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1-2PM Thursday at Memorial United Methodist Church in Lake Placid. Services will be at 2PM at the church. McLEAN, William Benjamin "Ben", age 84, of Lake Placid passed away Friday, February 14, 2003 at Southwest Regional Medical Center, Ft. Myers. Ben was born in Bartow, Florida and had been a resident of Highlands County for 20 years coming from Clermont. Ben was an independent citrus broker. He was a pioneer founder of the Citrus School of Florida Southern College, and director of Citrus Land Bank in Orlando.He was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Lake Placid. Ben is survived by his wife, Monta Vitter McLean of Lake Placid; children, Dianne Schuster of Clermont, Florida, William Benjamin McLean, Jr. of Clermont, Florida, Barbara Vitter of Clermont, Florida, Mark McLean of Sebring, Florida, Mary Hix of Lakeland, Florida, Jeff McLean of Merritt Island, Florida, Scott McLean of Lake Placid, Florida,John McLean of Sebring, Florida; 19 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
