    6. [S915] Death Notices and Obituaries, John N. Stewart III obituary, Biloxi Sun-Herald, 12 July 2008.
      John N. Stewart, III, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2008. He was 83 years old.

      After completing his secondary education, John served in the USNCB (Sea Bees) in 1943 and later attended Yale and graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans. He was an individual trader on the New Orleans Cotton Exchange and served on the President's Advisory Committee. Later, John became associated with New Orleans Public Service, Inc. in their Marketing Department.

      John was President of the Epilepsy Council and on the Cerebral Palsy Association Board of Directors and Treasurer of the Louise S. McGehee School Board. While in New Orleans, he was a member of the Royal Society of St. George, The Stratford Club, The Boston Club, France Amerique, and an historian for the Sons of the American Revolution. John was also a member of the Society of Colonial Wars in the State of Louisiana and several New Orleans Carnival Organizations.

      Mr. Stewart retired to Diamondhead, Mississippi, and was active in the Sam Davis Camp 596 of the SCV of which he was a charter member. He was also active in the Father Ryan Chapter of the MOSB and the Pass Christian Yacht Club. He was a member of the Diamondhead Community Association and the Diamondhead Boaters Association. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Diamondhead, the American Legion and served on the Board of Beauvoir.

      He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Saussy Stewart; six children: John N. Stewart IV, W. Parker Stewart, Amelie S. Lanaux, P. Gordon Stewart, Louise M. Stewart, Edwa S. Brennan; two step-sons, William D. Finley, Edward D. Finley; 15 grandchildren, J. Nelson Stewart V, Caroline S. Milling, Scott B. Stewart, Virginia S. Stewart, W. Parker Stewart, Jr., Charles E. Stewart, Amelie E. Lanaux, Pierre B. Lanaux III, Behn E. Lanaux, Elaine S. Stewart, Sarah C. Stewart, Maggie M. Stewart, Virginia P. Stewart, David J. Brennan, Jr., and Paul S. Brennan; and four step-grandchildren, Duncan Blake-Finley, Adrien A. Maught, I. Pearce Maught, Christine W. Lynch. He is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren, Taylor Stewart and Robert Milling.

      He was predeceased by his first wife, Elaine Saussy Stewart and step-daughter, Elaine F. White.

      Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2008, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Diamondhead, Mississippi.

      Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., and the burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery.

      In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 5303 Diamondhead Circle, Diamondhead, MS 39525.
