Name Hilaire Dubroca [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] Notes - [RouxModified.FTW]

Hilaire was a private in the 14th Regt., Mississippi Militia, during
the War of 1812, under his brother, Capt. Benjamin Dubroca.
There is no evidence that Hilaire and Isabelle were ever married. In
his will, dtd April 27, 1821, filed April 15, 1826, he identifies
Isabelle as "-- a coloured woman who has lived with me for many years
and to her children which she has born to me --" thereafter naming his
children and their ages. His daughter Irene may have died young as she
was not mentioned in his will; the will also did not name Virginia who
was born in 1823, subsequent to the dated will. Hilaire's death
notice, dated March 1826, listed his age as being 48. The American
State Papers recorded that Hilaire, in 1812, was a major landholder at
St. Philip's Bluff, above Mobile, bounded on the East by the Mobile
River and on the South by the lands of Maximilian Dubroca. His will
also mentioned a house in Mobile at the corner of Dauphin and
McLaughlin Streets, 50 acres in Baldwin County, and Hilaire's share of
the grant made by the French Government to Count Perchon who had in
turn conveyed it to Louis Valentin Dubroca -- the grant was identified
as being in the Towaska Tract, bounded on the North by the Towaska
River, by Three-Mile creek on the South, the Mobile River on the East,
and marshy ground on the West; Hilaire claimed to be entitled to
1/4th share as he was one of the four sons surviving at the time of
his father's death.
