This book belongs to me, Martin Conrad (Kunrod) at that time resident of the village Slunger. And may the merciful Almighty God our Lord grant me the right understanding to read it for His glory and praise. This was written in the year of our Lord, 1782, February 20.
And I, Martin Conrad, was born A.D. 1753, November 11, Martinsday in the sign of the Bull.
And I, Martin Conrad, was united in holy wedlock with Annette Liechty A.D. 1779, April 25.
And I, Martin Conrad, was ordained for the service of the church of God, Mompelgart (this being my first charge) A.D. 1780, October 22.
And may the righteous, merciful, almighty and all wise God and Father grant me, Thy lowly, humble and meek servant wisdom, diligence to fear and love him above anything invisible or visible on earth or heaven.
And may God the Lord strengthen and comfort me according to His most holy will to comprehend and serve my ministry as a true, pious fighter for his holy Word so when the time of my departure shall come, I may say with the chosen Apostle Paul in his Epistle to Timothy 11, chapter 4, verses 6-8: "For I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord the righteous judge shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
And that I may be able to say: "With sorrow and tears I received my ministry and with joy and gladness I remit it to hia who has ordained me, his humble servant. Honor, glory and praise to Thy name through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Written in the year of our Lord, 1772, February 20.

A.D. 1785, April 14, a third child was born to Mr. Conrad in the sign of Cancer, and it died the fourth day, A.D. 1785, April 20.
A.D. 1786, July 15, the fourth child was born this day in the sign of the Fishes and shall receive the name Margaret.
A.D. 1788, July 24, born to Martin Conrad the fifth child in the sign Ram and shall be named Peter.
A.D. 1789, February 8, this son died.
A.D. 1790, October 16, the sixth child was born in the sign of Waterman and shall be named Babette.
A.D. 1792, August 2, this daughter died.
A.D. 1792, September 28. The seventh child was born to me, Martin Conrad, in the sign of the Fishes, and shall be named Christian.
A.D. 1794, September 18. To me, Martin Conrad, is born the eighth child in the sign of Cancer and shall receive the name Babette.
*A.D. 1796, August 24. To me, Martin Conrad, was born the ninth child in the sign of the Bull and shall be named Daniel.
A.D. 1798, August 14, the tenth child was born to me, Martin Conrad, in the sign of Virgin and shall be named Joseph.
A.D. 1801, November 4. The eleventh child was born to me, Martin Conrad, in the sign of the Fishes and shall receive the name Annette.
